A senior manager, who has now left the company, told me I was to get a pay rise effective from the first of last month. When the rise didn’t show up in my pay packet, I had a meeting with another manager and the head of personnel, who denied all knowledge of the increase and said there was nothing in writing.

Lawyers for your Business (LFYB) consists of around 1,000 firms of Solicitors throughout England and Wales offering particular specialist advice to small and medium-sized businesses.

Our Head of Accounts, Marie Hluschyk, was fortunate enough to gain a Scholarship at Wolverhampton University for the Foundation Degree in Practice Administration. This was awarded by the Institute of Legal Cashiers & Administrators (ILCA) in memory of their late Honorary President, Barry Hilton.

My father divorced my mother and re-married. He died some years ago, and my stepmother has died recently.

My father always said that he’d left a will, but we never heard anything about it and I wondered whether my brother and I might be entitled to anything whether or not our stepmother made a will. She did have two sons of her own. GS
